Bookshelf, Frames

PROJECT INFO

Fall 2013 - Ongoing

PROJECT STATEMENT

Anytime I design something for myself, it is usually because I am unwilling to settle for the conventional alternatives.  As a result, I try to question convention, which usually results in a new and unusual form based on a desire for function.

PICTURE FRAMES: I wanted the frames allow for easy changing of photos as well as changing of colors.  The nail that mounts it to the wall also holds the entire frame together, making it as easy to install as it was to make.

BOOKSHELF: By staggering the horizontal pieces, the design offers varying sizes of 6", 12", and 18" shelves.  The vertical pieces balance the design like a tripod so that it never wobbles, and the openness of the structure allows the bookshelf to be accessed from any side.
